St. Anthony’s Hermitage
In the northern area of Motril stands the Hermitage of Saint Anthony, a temple of strong historical character whose construction dates back to the 17th century, in Baroque style.
This hermitage is linked to the popular devotion to Saint Anthony, who was declared the patron saint of Motril after the plague epidemic of 1679, and it has remained a symbol of faith and tradition for the local community.
From its elevated location, the hermitage also offers a peaceful setting and a unique view of the city, inviting visitors to discover a place where history, art, and spirituality intertwine.
