Church of the Convent of the Nazarenas

Scroll

In the historic center of Motril stands the Church of the Convent of the Nazarenas, a temple that forms part of the former convent of the Augustinian Recollect Nazarenas, whose presence in the city dates back to the early 18th century.

Its architecture, with a Latin cross floor plan and a nave covered by a barrel vault, displays characteristic elements of conventual churches of that period. The atrium, with two levels of elevation and semicircular arches, anticipates the sobriety and serenity of its interior.

This church, linked to the spiritual life of Motril for centuries, still preserves its religious function today and forms part of the city’s historical heritage, offering visitors a deeper insight into local devotion and sacred art.

Motril. History and faith to be felt.
