Charca de Suárez Nature Reserve
In Motril, nature finds its refuge in Charca de Suárez, a unique protected natural area on the Costa Tropical. This former wetland, restored at the end of the 20th century, has become one of the city’s main green lungs and a privileged place for birdwatching.
Among lagoons, trails, and native vegetation, Charca de Suárez is home to a great diversity of species and offers a peaceful environment just a few minutes from the city center.
Visiting Charca de Suárez means discovering the most natural side of Motril, a place where biodiversity and landscape live together in balance.

During the wildlife breeding season (March 1 to May 31), opening hours are restricted.
Visits to the Charca de Suárez Nature Reserve during this period are only possible by prior reservation via email or phone. Reservations are processed strictly in order of request.

9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. — Saturdays and Sundays
6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. — Wednesday to Sunday
• October
9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. — Saturdays and Sundays

During the breeding period (March to May), visits are restricted to guided tours at the times indicated above, with a duration of approximately one and a half hours.
During the guided visit, the entrance gate to the reserve remains closed.
